It is recommended that all dogs have their first examination at approximately eight weeks. There are several conditions present at a young age that disappear later, but the dog still has the ability to pass along the trait. Annual exams are also recommended. On exam sheets submitted after first certification, the number given will be the same and the year and age in months will reflect subsequent exams. Following is how the certification numbers are assigned.
