New Anti-Freeze Warning! The following is courtesy of Rott n Chatter, March 1994Safebrands Corporation of Omaha, Nebraska has produced a new product called Sierra. The company claims that the propylene glycol used in their antifreeze is "essentially non-toxic." Dr. William Buck, Director of the National Animal Poison Control Center at the University of Illinois states "Sierra is NOT safe." Propylene glycol is used frequently as a base in insecticides and the Center has treated several pets that ultimately died from ingesting this product. Oh, one last thing ... the researchers at Safebrands, when pressed, admit that they never tested the product for its safety on animals. Just proves once again folks, that we have to be wary of claims being made, par- ticularly when those making the claims stand to make a profit. |
