This book is a must read for anyone looking for a puppy and for all breeders. Mr. Shook uses his talents for investigative reporting to research buying a puppy and answer the question of how to find a family companion that isn't crazy, won't bite, can do the job for which it was intended and doesn't have hereditary diseases. While he found this task to be difficult in today's modern dog producing environment, he gives some very sound advice on how it can be accomplished as well as why it has become so difficult. Whether looking for a first dog or another addition to your breeding program, this will help you find a dog with good temperament and health. Breeders should read and assess their own programs in light of the results of Mr. Shook's investigation.
